Angry residents have repeatedly attacked and burned Ebola treatment facilities at the outbreak epicenter, with three attacks in the past week including towns where tents and centers were torched and a hospital stormed by armed youths, forcing staff to evacuate patients amid gunfire. These attacks, together with rising suspected cases and cuts to aid, are disrupting patient care, threatening health workers and undermining isolation, contact tracing and vaccination efforts. The destruction and community hostility increase the risk of wider transmission and complicate containment.
