Scientists have identified a new giant sauropod, Nagatitan, from fossil remains found in Thailand; it is the largest dinosaur discovered in Southeast Asia and may have weighed as much as nine elephants. The discovery provides new evidence that sauropods were already very large in the region and adds important data on dinosaur diversity and body size. Alongside finds like Kank australis in Argentina, these discoveries underscore the wide range of dinosaur sizes and ecological roles revealed by recent global fossil research and should prompt further regional study.
