Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said the Justice Department is still investigating whether a Secret Service officer’s gunfire struck the suspect during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner shooting, and a buckshot pellet recovered from an agent’s vest provides a forensic link to the scene. That pellet does not by itself resolve which rounds struck whom; forensic and ballistic work plus witness accounts remain essential to determine the final sequence. Allen has been removed from suicide watch at the D.C. jail and a hearing on that status was cancelled, a custody update occurring as investigators continue analysis.
