
Eli Lilly is buying Kelonia Therapeutics for $3.25 billion, acquiring the small biotech’s cell therapy programs for cancer and autoimmune diseases. Kelonia had struggled as a startup, and the deal gives Lilly external capabilities in cellular medicines to complement its internal pipeline. Paired with recent clinical progress on drugs like retatrutide and Lilly’s agreement to acquire three vaccine developers, the Kelonia purchase is part of a broader M&A push to diversify into cell therapies, vaccines and other biologics beyond metabolic disease.
