Overview
Instagram introduced “Instants,” an ephemeral photo format of uneditable, disappearing pictures to encourage casual sharing, available inside the main app and as a dedicated Android app. The launch reflects Instagram’s push to foreground short-lived, candid content with a camera-first experience similar to Snapchat and BeReal. In response to user confusion and accidental shares, TechCrunch published guidance on how to disable Instants and retract photos.
