The Roman Space Telescope finished construction ahead of schedule and under budget and is now ready for launch, using repurposed reconnaissance hardware to build a wide-field infrared observatory. NASA completed a final pre-launch inspection in which the primary mirror passed its last tests, reinforcing the telescope's optical readiness and launch preparations. Roman’s large-area surveys will complement JWST’s detailed atmospheric maps by providing statistical context across many targets, strengthening prospects for studying exoplanet atmospheres, dark energy, and other infrared astrophysics goals.
