Microsoft is internally testing two small AI devices for office workers: a portable desk cube with a touch and voice-activated screen, and a wearable access badge designed to hang from a lanyard or belt loop. The prototypes are being trialed with employees and aim to provide quick, persistent access to AI features at the desk and on the go. These hardware experiments could complement Microsoft’s new Scout assistant and the company’s Build 2026 strategy to embed agent-style AI into Windows, Surface, and productivity tools.
